Fix error message "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"

About "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" error message.

Sometimes it happens that when you restart your computer then you might faced error message "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" in your windows screen and unable to start windows. Windows error generally appears when there is improper maintenance of windows registry  files.  Windows registry is the most important part of the system which helps in performing all functions of windows application. This error occurs when system file gets corrupted or damaged, problem in input/output system BIOS settings, BIOS is unable to communicate with your system, virus is the main reason which creates to occur this type of issue. This error appears similarly in all the version of windows operating system such as Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you receive this error continuously while performing system applications then need to fix it soon otherwise your computer will face many other problems.


What are the symptoms?

“STOP 0x000000ED (0xaaaaaaaa,0xbbbbbbbb,0xcccccccc,0xdddddddd) UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME”
or
"STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" Error. 
Due to this error you get windows starting problem, system takes longer time to start up and shut down windows, system gets slower down, system crashes, blue screen of death appears while running PC.

How to fix error message "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"?
 

  • If this issue is occurred due to damage of system file then you need to repair the volume.
  1. And to repair volume you can use chkdsk/r command. Make sure that when you this command then you may lose some data.
  2. You need the windows installation disk.
  3. Insert the windows installation disk in your CD/DVD drive and then restart your computer.
  4. When windows start to appear then press R key to start the Recovery console.
  5. .If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer then select the installation which must access from the Recovery Console.
  6. Type the password when you are prompted and hit enter.
  7. In the command prompt, type the chkdsk/r command and press enter.
  8. Again in the command prompt, type exit  and press enter to restart your system.
  • If you are unable to solve this issue by following above method then you need to check the IDE cable and load fail save settings.
  1. If your system using UDMA hard disk controller then follows the steps:-
  2. Replace the 40-wire UDMA cable with cable with an 80-wire cable if your UDMA hard disk is connected to the controller 40-wire UDMA cable.
  3. Load the 'Fail-Safe' default settings in the BIOS setting for your system and reactivate the frequently used options.

You can use third party repair tool to fix this error. If you have still not started working on to fix this error then start to fix my PC because this error can damage your computer.
